Martini City 00:15

The Martini Cowboy was riding in a cab, past the horses in the stable in Central Park, The sun was on the rise, so the day'd begun, but the night was long and the ladies were young, He cried, "damn that was such a good time, why can't all of life be as great as it was tonight? And I wish it would all rhyme”, The city folk laughed, they said, "where is your horse”, He said, "it's up your ass, no it's racing of course", The martini so cold that the glass was all frost, The romance was strong, but it came at a cost, She said, "you know that I care for you so, but it never could work, don't ask me why it's just something I know, I think I'd better go home" Another night, another chance, another song, another dance, another lady is swept in the field of his charms, She said, "you know I could fall for you, so I will implore to you, give me one more martini and I'll simply adore you", She cried, "damn that was such a good time, why can't all of life be as great as it was tonight? And I wish it would all rhyme", They dated for a while in a city folk style, with martinis and oysters and taxis and bars, But the romance wouldn't last, it was all in the past, The Martini Cowboy had chosen the night, He cried, "damn that was such a good time, why can't all of life be as great as it was tonight", And I wish it would all rhyme".

Broken Man 02:39
I'm not gonna go out there tonight, I'm gonna sit right down and try to get things right, thinking 'bout the way it goes and what I've been doing wrong, and as I tried my mind gave up this song What was all that darkness around me? I've got plenty of light but it just don't help me see, thinking 'bout the way it goes and waiting for the day, when I find my piece of mind and it wants to stay I'm a broken man just sell me for the parts, I've a decent mind, but sometimes it won't start, I've had the best of times and other times been hard, I'm a broken man about to fall apart I've worked out troubled thoughts alone at bars, I've fixed my broken heart many times in cars, thinking about the way it goes while standing there in line, and if I try too hard I can't make up my mind I'm a broken man just sell me for the parts, I've a decent mind, but sometimes it won't start, I've had the best of times and other times been hard, I'm a broken man about to fall apart

Step into the bathroom, let me show you what I got, I got a little bit of coke, I wanna put it up your nose, Make you feel like a million bucks, until we get up in the morning and cry, Everybody's dancing and the room is having fun, I had a dozen margaritas so I know that you're the one, Tell you something special, wanna take off all your clothes, until we get up in the morning and cry , Try not to cry, But when I get up in the morning I just know that there is nowhere to hide, Pull up to the drive thru, it's American tonight, I wanna dozen little burgers extra ketchup on the side, Eat 'em in the car and throw the wrappers on the floor, until we get up in the morning and cry Spending all my money on a weekend in the sun, I got no way to pay the rent, I couldn't even find a job, A dozen lobsters and a boat, I mean we really lived it up, until we get up in the morning and cry, Try not to cry, But when I get up in the morning I just know that there is nowhere to hide Doin' shots of vodka with some ancient Polish fella, I just love the way he talks and the stories he can tell, A couple drunken fools we even fell right off our stools, until we get up in the morning and cry , Try not to cry, But when I get up in the morning I just know that there is nowhere to hide.

I just can't find the one, that I was meant for, It's so hard to go alone, Maybe I'll just drive, 'til I don't know where I am, And try to get away from nothing at all, Trying to get away from nothing at all, If you try too hard, the loneliness grows, My friends get married I see them once in a while, They try to fix me up, it only cramps my style, Out there in this world, there's a very special girl, Just trying to get away from nothing at all, Trying to get away from nothing at all, If you try too hard, the loneliness grows, Someday this'll be someone else's song, It doesn't have a thing to do with right or wrong, You can dream and you can try, and I hope you'll satisfy, Just trying to get away from nothing at all, Trying to get away from nothing at all, If you try too hard, the loneliness grows.

Sugar Bear 03:00
Stumbling around just trying to get back into town, I'm a rumbling conundrum of a bum, You placed a spell on me, I fear I'll never feel complete, But still I love you and I need you Sugarbear Sugarbear, my Sugarbear you got a funny way of showing how you care, You know my love is true I'm just another one to you, but when my heart screams out there's nothing I can do, Yesterday at noon I did attempt to make you swoon, With some chocolate covered pretzels and a song, But you laughed right in my face even the chocolate went to waste, If there's a way to get it right I've done it wrong, My Sugarbear, my Sugarbear, You took my love and turned it to despair, every time I try it seems I'm never satisfied, But still I love you and I need you Sugarbear, Late into the night you said you loved me and you might, Take my hand into the setting sun, But when the morning came around, it was the gossip of the town, I was handsome but I wasn't any fun, Sugarbear, my Sugarbear, You treat me now as though I wasn't there, You wounded me so good, I kinda always knew you would, But still I love you and I need you Sugarbear, Every time I try it seems I'm never satisfied, But still I love you and I need you Sugarbear.

Rotary Phone 03:45
Time can move a mountain make an acorn into a tree, It can wash away an ocean, make a living room a street, Let me tell a story about the way it used to be, With a rotary phone don't leave a message for me, You're gonna be an old man too, They take away my smokes and say my blood pressure's high, The doctors used to tell us we could smoke 'em all the time, Like to tell a story you don't have to hear it all, Cuz a rotary phone must stay connected to the wall, Bring me lots of whiskey and a really good time, Everyday I'm living, I'm living in my prime, Ya used to have to go to town to find out all the news, Cuz with a rotary phone you can stay home if you choose, Every time I fall down the stairs, The neighbors come runnin' say I should take better care, Let me tell a story about the way it used to be, With a rotary phone don't leave a message for me, You're gonna be an old man too, Aw yeah, let's do it all again, try a little harder and a little to the left, If you don't do it once, how can you do it again, With a rotary phone and all the things that we said, my friend.

Yeah, what I drink and who I meet at the track is my business, There's always a place in my heart, For drinking and gambling and sinning and falling apart, What I drink and who I meet at the track, What I drink and who I meet at the track is my business, Last night I slept in the car, Woke with one shoe, twenty bucks and a half smoked cigar, What I drink and who I meet at the track, What I drink and who I meet at the track is my business, You know I will always be true, So give me a chance to win big and buy something for you, What I drink and who I meet at the track, What I drink and who I meet at the track is my business, A bourbon and soda in hand, Drinking and gambling and losing the best that I can, What I drink and who I meet at the track, What I drink and who I meet at the track, What I drink and who I meet at the track is my business.

Uncle Luther 03:36
Sitting here in this broken down shack, I hope my Uncle Luther never has to come back, It's been ten years since I've fallin' in love, Now that I've found the trouble, I don't know what I was thinkin' of I haven't laughed since I met you but I cry all the time, I used to be so happy, now I'm sobbing on a dime, The only way out is a long hard climb, and all I'm really thinkin' 'bout is seeing you tonight, Our love is stronger than a boxer without a defeat, I love to see you smile or just walking down the street, You got me sewn up tight and I know you can tell, You get a devilish little pleasure when your dragging me through hell, I haven't laughed since I met you but I cry all the time, I used to be so happy, now I'm sobbing on a dime, The only way out is a long hard climb, And all I'm really thinkin' 'bout is seeing you tonight, Yesterday was a really bad day, Uncle Luther came back and said this time he's gonna stay, He's a mean old man, I've never seen him smile, He's got no place to go, looks like he's stayin' for a while, I haven't laughed since I met you but I cry all the time, I used to be so happy, now I'm sobbing on a dime, The only way out is a long hard climb, And all I'm really thinkin' 'bout is seeing you tonight, So to the lord above, if this is some kinda test, My heart is in the dumpster, Uncle Luther gets the rest, She don't treat me right , he never washes his hands, Ya gotta show me little mercy, this is more than I can stand, I haven't laughed since I met you but I cry all the time, I used to be so happy, now I'm sobbing on a dime, The only way out is a long hard climb, and all I'm really thinkin' 'bout is seeing you tonight.

I've been on the verge of happiness, For all of my life, I've been taking all of love's chances, And I take my lumps in stride, Won't you give me, one more chance, Just to tell you how I feel, There it goes again, lay it down and wonder, If you see things like I do, 'Cause the best I get, Is the feeling of the verge of happiness, Heartbreak is just the door to loneliness, And I've been here quite a while, It only takes the smallest hint of hopefulness, To brighten up my smile, Won't you give me, one more chance, Just to tell you how I feel, There it goes again, lay it down and wonder, If you see things like I do, 'Cause the best I get, Is the feeling of the verge of happiness.

Someone probably wins every time I lose, Too familiar place, still it's just the blues, I'm happy in the fall but I don't like the landing, I'm comfortable confused not with misunderstanding, I'm happy in the fall, but I don't like the landing, Every once in a while, I just fall apart, I try to find the pieces but they won't go far, No one wants just part of a broken heart, They'd rather tear it out just fresh from the start, I'm happy in the fall, but I don't like the landing, Give a man a chance and he'll dig a hole, Dig it so he can't get out at all, I'd like to climb the walls, if I only could find them, The foolish things I do stand in the way and hide them, I'm happy in the fall, but I don't like the landing, I'm happy in the fall, ah-oh-all, ay-oh-he-ah-oh, ay-oh-he-ah-uh-all, I'm happy in the fall, ah-oh-all, ay-oh-he-ah-oh, ay-oh-he-ah-uh-all,

Driven myself mad, with all that I have, With this pain I could build a small town, I'll be seeing you soon, and it's all I wanna do, Waiting's ok if it's waiting for you, You give me something to look forward to, You give me something to look forward to, For years I have grown into a man that walked alone, Trying to believe that was my way, But then you came along, and you filled my walk with song, That had no confusion, just a feeling that's true, You give me something to look forward to, You give me something to look forward to, And it never has to be like it was in the past, And I feel myself just rise above the ways I used to have, It won't always be great, we're gonna have ourselves some days, When it's hard to feel love of anytime, But in the darkness of the low, it's with you I always know, in the days up ahead, the sun will come to view, You give me something to look forward to, You give me something to look forward to.

Spike Down 03:57
Won't cha lay your spike down, lay it deep into the ground, Won't cha lay your spike down, lay it deep into the ground, Deep in the ground, so it won't move around, Remember feeling sorrow, do you Remember feeling pain? Remember feeling sorrow, do you Remember feeling pain? Feeling so happy, trying to always stay that way, Michael was a good man, lot's of worries on his mind, Michael was a good man, lot's of worries on his mind, Now he ain't around, and we miss him all the time, Won't cha lay your spike down, lay it deep into the ground, Won't cha lay your spike down, lay it deep into the ground, Deep in the ground, so it won't move around.
